What to do with your dock when the lake level drops?

At the end of the year, some lakes will drop the water levels during this offseason so maintenance can be done on the shorelines. If this happens to your lake, you will want to make sure your dock stays avoid and avoids possible damage. Here are some tips to take:

  • The best option if you can do it is to chase the water. This means pushing the dock out until it is back in the water again. This way it will stay afloat and prevent any damage.
  • If that does not work, you can clear out the lake bottom to make sure it’s smooth and no tree branches or large rocks are sticking out.
  • It is possible to have your dock builder fabricate bracing for your floats so that when the lake level drops the dock will sit on the bracing and not on the floats.
